How Suzie forgot food and found life

THE BEGINNING

When we began coaching Suzie was 61 and had been dieting since she was 17, spending her life trying to eat healthily, when all she wanted was chocolate ice cream. She was consumed with guilt and self-loathing. She was putting up with an inadequate relationship, an unfulfilling job, and being ‘nice’ all the time while people took advantage of her. Of course she felt utterly desperate, using food as her principle pleasure in life.

THE BREAKTHROUGH

During the second session we uncovered the desires Suzie was suppressing with food. She longed to be a painter and travel the world. She longed to look glamorous and find true love.

So we tackled the guilt, as with guilt comes rules, so we threw those out. We investigated ‘doing it right’ versus doing what works!

We gently introduced passions into her life, looked for other jobs and a new relationship that would bring her the happiness she truly deserved.

THE RESULTS

Suzie now loves life even more than chocolate ice cream! She can eat whatever she wants, whenever she wants, and this is not nearly as much as she had thought it would be. She quit her job and found work she loves. Suzie paints, she dances, she sings. She visits exotic places. She also enjoys taking her new boyfriend with her!

How Angela lost her weight and found her true self

THE BEGINNING

Angela was looking for the ‘real me’, who she felt was hiding under layers of fat. She had tried for years to do it alone, but was lost and exhausted in the cycle of diets and overeating. As a housewife she followed her mother’s pattern of feeding her family to show love, but sacrificing herself to all their needs. Angela felt both trapped and scared by the feeling that she wanted to escape.

THE BREAKTHROUGH

In Angela’s first call we discovered the key reason for self-sabotage, the subconscious belief that was stopping her losing weight.

Angela believed that her current self was homely, non-threatening and loveable. And she believed the ‘real her’ was quite the opposite, a woman who contained freedom, power and total aliveness. Angela feared that if she ever lost the weight and came into contact with this ‘real self’, she would either want to leave her family or they would want to leave her!

This subconscious fear had prevented her from losing weight, no matter how much she tried to diet, for the last 25 years.

THE RESULTS

Once Angela’s fears came to the surface we could easily change them. She took the courage to share her fears with her family and instead of wanting to leave her they supported her in embracing her true self. Angela was overjoyed to find that her husband and children were more wonderful, loving and accepting that she ever imagined possible. She lost her excess weight, all 3 stone, and loved the cheerleading team who supported her all the way!

How Caroline dropped her food issues and her dress sizes

THE BEGINNING

Caroline was always on a diet. During the day she would barely eat, then after work flopping on the sofa, exhausted and deprived, she nibbled all night. Caroline felt consumed by the belief that she was unattractive, both inside and out. She hid herself away, wasn’t intimate with her husband, and got lost in her work.

THE BREAKTHROUGH

We healed Caroline from the inside out. She couldn’t hope to feel attractive, no matter what her dress size, as long as she festered with feelings of guilt, blame and self-hatred for the way she looked. Indeed, those feelings were at the root of her food issues.

We introduced intuitive eating into her life, so she threw out all her low-fat, low-carb, low-taste foods and began eating foods that really nourished her. She ate satisfying meals and stopped thinking about food all the time.

At the same time we discovered and addressed Caroline’s ingrained (and inaccurate!) confusion between thinness and attractiveness. She started noticing that truly beautiful women were those who radiated aliveness, and without that inner joy a tiny dress size would make no difference!

THE RESULTS

Caroline is now lit from within! She loves herself and her body, and loves noticing how men, especially her husband, respond to her new confident, happy, beautiful self. She eats lovely foods and doesn’t nibble, because she’s too busy enjoying life to think about food too much! Caroline’s loved watching the weight dropping off, becoming particularly excited when her bra became baggy!
